Four Years

Beck is four years old today. I can't help but think back on the last four years and all that has happened and how crazy it felt to be a new mom. I remember that for about three days after we brought him home I had to suppress this panicky feeling of "What the heck did we just do?" Scott was getting a bit worried as I would stare into the TV without blinking for minutes on end. Don't worry, I snapped out of it!

I used to love to watch Beck sleep. In fact, for about two weeks after he came home I was afraid to leave him anywhere by himself. I carried him from room to room in his car seat or sat in his room with him. I remember the moment it dawned on me that I could actually leave him in a room by himself.
He has always been such a great sleeper and that has definitely helped my sanity and my mood. Even as a baby I thought he always looked so smart as he sat there trying to figure everything out.
This was the first time he smiled at us and I just remember how it melted my heart. His smiles still do that to me.
And now he is four, and I feel like he is no longer even part baby. He is all big boy! Here he is right after his special birthday breakfast this morning of waffles and strawberries with all of the new cars he got. What fun life is!
