I thought all night about Robyn (probably because of those graphic post-surgery pictures on her blog) and decided to pay tribute to what we used to be.
Robyn and I were roommates up at Utah State. Robyn was actually the first roommate that I talked to. She had moved in first and then went to lunch. While she was gone, she called to find out else who arrived. I answered the phone, and she asked me what I liked to do...I told her I played volleyball. She asked what kind of music I liked to listen to...I told her country. Needless to say, she had the image in her head of me being a 6'3" Wrangler-wearing cowgirl. When she met me she wouldn't believe that I was the one she had talked to on the phone.
Some of my favorite memories of Robyn include the time she drove me back from Salt Lake after a weekend and she told me about a scary movie (When A Stranger Calls Back) in such detail that it took the whole ride up to Logan and it gave me shivers just from hearing the description. I also remember that she and Bree helped me to not dress like such a dork. They got me out of my nasty old T-shirts and into some T-shirts that were a little cooler (I wasn't ready for a full makeover yet). I also remember that when I told Robyn that I was dating Scott, she told me, "Just don't hurt him, Laura." Well Robyn, I married him...now I can hurt him anytime I want.
I've always really respected Robyn because she has always been very open about her thoughts and feelings (which was weird for me because I had been taught by three brothers that emotions are for sissies). She always stood up for what she believed and she was always willing to tell you something, even if you didn't want to hear it.
So now, everytime I hear Jewel or Indigo Girls, or see a painting by Klimt, I always think of Robyn. But it has been nice to have her blog to look at so that I can somehow stay connected to an old friend and think about the Robyn I used to know.

First of all, you did need some talking sense into when I first met you! I am so glad Scotty came around I was sick of that loser boyfriend that I dropped you off at his house all the time. Second of all, wasn't it fun to make the three other goody goody roommates think we were so evil? Thirdly, I needed som talking to when it came to dating that loser Adam Johnson, what was I thinking?
Thanks for the kind words, you and Bree were the only reason that year of college was fun. Midnight Taco Bell runs, rearranging furniture in the middle of the night, playing pranks on eachother during showers.....Really fun times...Running naked through the cemetary at night;)To be 18 again!
We need to get together!
