Over Labor Day, we went camping up at Soapstone. Although summer had only been over for about four days, it was freezing! Luckily, Owen came prepared and dressed for the cold.
Beck, however, tried a different strategy and just hid from the cold.
Not only was it cold, but it was also stormy. Our last night in camp we barely survived what felt like "Wrath of God" thunder and lightning. Kids were crying, dogs were barking, and Grandma Connie almost wet the bed! It was a little intense, but we made it through. The next morning we woke up to find huge pieces of hail all over the camp
Snow?
Oh "hail" no!
It did make for some gorgeous scenery though.
The steam coming off the pond made it look magical, although the day before it looked like a fetid swamp.
Once you looked past the weather, the mud, the cold, and the bathroom situation (there were none), it was a fun trip.....I mean the food was good.....there were no bugs because it was so cold.....the kids loved jumping in the mud puddles.....yeah I guess it was a fun trip. But next year I'm insisting on a generator for the heater and possibly an on-site hot tub!
