This is the Place

This is the Place is one of our favorite field trips that we do all summer.  The kids get such a great sense of the history of the state and it is just plain fun.
Brigham and Joseph welcoming us to the park.

Playing in the tiny village.

Petting "Bones" at the petting zoo.  As soon as I snapped this picture, he licked Beck with his huge tongue and slimed his whole arm.

Owen on "Honey."

Beck on "Banjo."

Then it was time to do some chores.  They did laundry,

beat the dirt out of the rugs,

and hoed a row.  They were both shocked at how hard it was for them to push it the whole length of the garden.  I think it made them appreciate the chores they do around our house.

They worked so hard, they earned a bag of donuts.

Then an afternoon shave at the Barber Shop.

Finally, we stopped at the huge monument overlooking the valley and read about all of the various explorers that contributed to the settling of Utah.

Fun and educational.....an ideal field trip!
