Playroom Makeover

The day after Christmas I went down into the basement to make space for all of the boys' newly acquired toys.  As I started pulling things out of the closet to reorganize, I was shocked to find that the carpet was soaking wet.  I was also disgusted when the mildew that was under the carpet revealed to me that this wasn't a new problem.  Scott started exploring in the walls and discovered a pipe under our sink that he thinks has been cracked since it was installed 22 YEARS AGO!  As more and more gunk built up in the pipe, it started slowly dripping and eventually soaked its way through the drywall and into the basement closet.  Blech!  As nasty as this was, I was thrilled that we finally got to redo the playroom.  Here are some before pictures:
Notice the emerald green carpet

and this lovely decorative border that I had to painstakingly peel off the walls.

Beck wasn't too concerned about the leak.

After:

New carpet, new shelving system in the closet, new furniture....I'm in love!

More importantly, now the kids actually want to play down there.  I can go a whole Saturday and not even see them!

I definitely call that a successful remodel!
