Scott's Bum Knee

This is Scott's knee.
Two years ago, over Thanksgiving weekend, he blew it out skiing because he thought he was much younger than he actually is (he tried to take a jump and crashed).  After a couple of weeks of resting his swollen knee, he thought everything had gone back to normal - then he tried to play basketball.  The first time he tried to pivot on his leg, his knee gave out and he knew things just weren't right.  Dustin confirmed this with manual manipulation and an MRI with the diagnosis of, "Dude, your ACL is gone."

Fast forward two years and here is Scott finally ready for his ACL reconstruction surgery.

Here he is after the surgery.  I think he really liked those drugs.

Grandpa Dennis was nice enough to come and keep me company during the surgery.

They wouldn't let him leave the hospital without some crutch lessons.  It made me so nervous just watching it - he was so unsteady on his feet.

But, we finally made it home, no thanks to the huge snowstorm we had (he nearly fell in the driveway when he slipped on a patch of snow!), and I got him safely deposited on the couch where he has been ever since.  In terms of his pain, he's doing really well; but I think he's totally going stir crazy from being stuck on the couch.

Hopefully he's learned his lesson that he's not as young as he used to be....
