Going for the Gold

We are getting excited for the London Olympics to start this week, but those have been overshadowed in our house by the training going on for the Doggy Olympics.  Jake and I have been carb loading like crazy and I think after his morning nap he did some really rigorous stretching.  Needless to say, we were ready to compete Saturday morning.  The whole family came to support us at the park.

We had some time to kill while waiting for the games to start

so Beck practiced his flippies.

We started with "Musical Sit" where the dogs had to sit immediately when the music stopped and then remain sitting until the music started again.  Jake was doing so good and was in second place in our heat and then I got complacent for one second - I looked away from him to see how the other dog was doing and he stood up before the music started.
Focus Laura!
Focus!

Then it was off to the "Egg Walk" where Jake had to walk in heel position while I carried an egg on a spoon.    It wasn't too difficult and Jake came in second again (behind a guy who had clipped his dog's leash to his belt....am I throwing out an accusation of cheating?  Yes.  Yes I am.)
Jake was robbed!

Jake performed beautifully.  He loves being around other dogs and was so friendly.  I was so proud of him.  He was so exhausted by the time we got home that he didn't move much the rest of the day.

Stay.....Good boy!
