Scott and I always lament that we don't get to spend as much time in the mountains as we would like. We live right at the base of the most beautiful mountains ever, and we hardly even go near them. After our brief sojourn last week up Big Cottonwood, we are determined to remedy this situation and have made a resolution that we are going to venture out every weekend and try out a new hike with the boys. This week we were lucky enough that Jesse, Melinda, and their kids were available to join us. We strapped on the little one....
rounded up the big boys, and headed out.
It was such a great hike. Steep enough to be a challenge for the little boys, but easy enough that the tears were kept at a minimum (there were a couple of scraped knees, a bonked nose, and a wounded butt from hard falls).
The boys loved to play up at the lake and had a blast being on the lookout for fish. Jesse and Scott almost caught a rainbow trout in one of the little pools, but, sadly, he escaped.
The day included a little birdwatching.....
relaxing and soaking up the scenery....
and a lot of wet and muddy shoes from slipping off the rocks and into the water.
We found some baby ducks who loved our wet soggy pretzels.
Since we had given the ducks our snack, and trekking up the mountain had built up our appetites, we hurried down so that we could go have lunch at Porcupine Pub and Grill. DELICIOUS!
I can't wait for next week's hike!
