Vernal? Really?

We went to Vernal this weekend to visit Scott's sister, Jamie. Every time someone would ask, "What are you guys doing over the 24th?" and we would answer that we were going to Vernal, they would ask, "Why?" I guess Vernal doesn't exactly elicit visions of fun and excitement.

Having said that, we had so much fun this weekend. Scott and Beck spent tons of time out in the boat and Beck is now in love with tubing. Lance (Jamie's husband) took Scott, Dennis, and I on a four-hour horseback ride up into mountains. I was so saddle sore by the time we got back, but it was a blast! He taught me how to gallop, and after my second try, I finally did it right. We went on a hike and saw some arches and natural bridges. We took Beck to the dinosaur museum and saw some genuine Uintah basin fossils. I also had the best prime rib I have ever tasted. Jamie and Lance were so hospitable, and grandma and the girls were always willing to hold Owen when I wanted to go join the boys in all the fun. You can tell how much fun we were having because we forgot to ever get out the camera. We don't have a single picture of our trip!

So as long as you have a Lance to show you around, Vernal is the happening place to be!

It doesn't matter where you go as long as you have fun. Vernal sounds fun to me. Good for you. I need to go on a little trip, but sometimes it is easier just to stay home. Am I right?
